I'm having real trouble trying to trace my fathers side of my tree, I am listing all the info I have and somone can point me in the right direction. |

Can you not find his birth certificate? That would give mum an dads full names. You can look free on freebmd. Assuming you know the correct place and year: You can buy the cert for £7 from GRO online - you may want to give them a pointer with the fathers initials to ensure this is the correct one. |

If you haven't already got it his birth cert would help and give his mother's name so you can trace their marraige |

Oh dear there's nothing worse than a travelling relative, if you know his service number there maybe a record at Kew, but you have to find someone who goes there to do a search for you. |

Thanks for the info!, His papers only say that he enlisted in Bishop Aukland. I believe my gran might of re-married and became a Phillips but I'm sketchy on details |
