Found the following that may be your Eleanor.

1901 census
12 Auckland Rd, Battersea London
George H HEMANS 1870 Eastbourne Sussex
Eleanor HEMANS 1870 Cardiganshire Wales
Eleanor K 1896 Eastbourne
George A 1898 London

Found the marriage of George H HEMANS to Eleanor Davies 1894 Eastbourne Sussex.

Found death of George H.T. HEMANS 1869 - 1916 at Wandsworth.

Birth of Eleanor Kathleen HEMANS AMJ 1895 Eastbourne
Birth George Alfred HEMANS OND 1897 Wandsworth

No sign of George in 1891 in Sussex

1881 census
West St, rooms over stables Easbourne
Fanny HEMANS 1840 Westham Sussex
George H HEMANS 1869 Eastbourne

Found Fanny in 1871 in Brighton
Fanny HEMONS 1837 Eastbourne. She was a cook in a large household. No sign of George in 1871.

Before 1871 Fanny was very elusive. I cant find a marriage for her. I suspect the spelling of the surname is the problem before 1871 as I tried various possibles.

The nearest I could see in 1841 in Sussex was Fanny HEASMAN born 1837, father Henry and mother Elizabeth living in Shipley. You can see the family in the IGI and can take them back to at least William Heasman marriage 15.2.1798 in Shipley.

To be sure Eleanor is your lady you will need the marriage certificate

Hope this helps

Ellen Davies Born c.1870 in Cardiganshire, moved to England sometime after 1892. Is she your great grandmother? She had a son out of wedlock, John James, in May 1892, he was my grandfather, she left him at home with her parents. No idea where she went but there are stories that she married and had five sons.
