William Bell appears in Annan (Brydekirk) 1841 census aged 37, married to Jannet (37). Children - daughter aged 12, William 8, John 4, son aged 3, ?Anthony 2. |

If you look at the actual census return you will see it is difficult to read. "Nicholas" is actually a girl! Ancestry decifered it as Nicholas! William, Jannet, William and John are legible but the other names are not too clear - but Anthony seems to be a likely interpretation. It is unlikely that there will be 2 named John - but what the 3 year old is actually called is difficult to decide. John from Ireland ties up with our line - he also moved to Cumbria and married and lived in Aspatria. It is through him that I tied up with William - his father. Where in Ireland he was born I do not know where to start looking - there are rather a lot of John Bells! |
