What I meant was that if you sent for a birth certificate, William George Williams c1888 for example, that should give you his mothers name Mary ???

Example from freeBMD:

Births Dec 1887 Toxteth Park 8b 163

WILLIAMS William George


Then you search for a marriage of William Williams to a Mary ??? and get that certificate. That should show their fathers name and occupation.

Using that you can then look at the William Williams on the 1871 census for example who have father who matches.

Way to go:

Get one of the childrens birth certificates to find Mum & Dads info.

Get Marriage certificate to get more info on them and poss their fathers info.

Look for them on census.

Without something concrete you haven't a chance, for example there are about a dozen on the 1871 census.

hi does any one know the ancestors of my great grand father William williams 1857 On the 1901 census he was married to margaret .they had 6 children on the 1891 census he was marrid to mary who I think must have died, some of the children he had with Mary are living with him and Margret .William ,Margaret and Mary all came from Liverpool then moved to widnes thanks for your time Ann
