John Carter b Louth Lincs c1854

I'm trying to find any further info on John Carter b Louth Lincs have found him from 1871C as a pte soldier, 8th Regiment of Foot, Salford Barracks, Salford Lancs. I have him on every Census from 1871 but would like to know more. He married Mary Ann Tracey 02 May1872 on Marr Cert he is still a soldier at Salford Barracks. He has 2 sons Thomas b Manchester c1856 and James b Bury 01 Nov 1882. Johnbecame a railway signalman after leaving the army, his father was Thomas this info is off his Maar Cert has anyone got John in their tree or have any info from before 1871 or of his army service.

I wonder if you have seen this entry on the IGI? Presuambly his marriage cert lists his father's name and occupation
