Thanks for your replies. My ggrandfather and his family all come from Islington but between 1891 and 1901 he spent somr time up in Yorkshire and I don't know why. His wedding cert shows his residence address as Wincobank and Matilda was residing at his families home in Islington. The fact that my grandfather was the only child of theirs to be born up in Yorkshire , I just wondered what he was doing up there

I found the census for 1891 - William Thomas J Harrison married Matilda and had 3 children. George Woods aged 4, Annie E aged 2 and Walter W aged 1. As you said that William was a signalman and that is correct according to Ancestry's archives. The family lived St Pancras' area in London and probably George Woods went back to family roots after his father's death.

Does anyone know anything about my GGrandfather William Thomas Joseph Harrison. He married Matilda Bardoe from Northfleet. William worked for the Midland and Scottish Railway at Camden Town as a signalman and died averting a rail disaster in 1923. He was living up at Wincobank Yorkshire at the time of his marriage in 1885 and my Grandfather George Woods Harrison was born in Kimbleworth in 1886. Can anyone tell me why he would be there?
