No - just re-read the thread again and you don't know mum's maiden name.

Have you found her parents' marriage cert? Or a likely possibility given that you know her father's name? If you can put together a list of possible marriages and then see if there is a Margaret or Margaret Mary ____ registered under one of the possible bride's names. I know it will be a bit of a haul but you might find her that way.

Well the age at marriage and at death do point to 1914 birth. It's possible that someone had made a mistake with her age at death but it's unlikely that age at marriage and at death are incorrect. The only possibility is that if she lied about her age at marriage and her husband registered her death he would give the age he thought she was. But would there have been any reason for her to lie?

Have you checked her birth under mother's maiden name? If we assume that mother did not marry before Margaret's birth?

What was the date of her marriage?

What was the date of her death?

(Not just the years but the full date)

Thats the problem i have had, i have her death cert & Marriage cert i would like her birth cert. So i can find out my g/parents name on my mothers side But i don't know where she is from. seeing as she was married, and died in Warrington i guess that's where i start, or she could have come from around Warrington like Liverpool or Manchester right?

what I'm trying to say is that 1914 might NOT be the birth year!

so it is worth looking a year on each side .... but an idea of where she migth hav ebeen born would help as there are lots of Margaret M Halls shown on the registration on freebmd .................. it seems that most of the registrations do not sepll out the second name.

Margaret

hope you don't mind, but I'm going to put on here the information you sent to me in a pm ..... it might help others trying to help you

she was married in warrington she was 24 then i have marriage cert.

no i didn't get her birth date from the death cert, its not on there ,it only gives her age at death. she died in 1963 age 48 and i know her brith date was 14 Aug, so as you see its hard to find out anything but i am not! going to give up

..... so she could have been born in 1914 or 1915, possibly 1913.

How does her age (24) on the marriage certificate fit in with those years?

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Apr 2008 05:23

where was your mother born?

where was she married?

Did you get her birth date from her death certificate? If so it might be 1 or 2 years out. The information given on a birth certificate is what the informant believes to be true, but may not be correct. The birth day is usually correct, but the birth year might be out. So can you extend the search for her birth to between the years 1911 to 1915?

she may not have had both names on her birth registration or her birth certificate .......... it is n0t unusual to find that a second name has been added at baptism.

Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins Report 31 Mar 2008 10:39

Your Mother's death certificate will either quote her aged at death or her actual Date of Birth...depending on when she died.

Her marriage certificate should tell you her father's name ...and witnesses are often other relatives.

It will also tell you either her actual age at that time or if she was of full age or a 'minor' (under 21) and where she was living.

If you know when and when she was born then her birth certificate will give you her parents names.

If you haven't got any of the certificates...then just ask on here....we can look them up for you so you can order them...then you can get started.

We are all here to help.
