thanks so much gerard i will give it a go.
i cant even find a birth for their son joseph
in the 1841 census it gives his age as five. i have tried i.g.i but nothing comes up for him either

The records, both the originals and on film, are at Manchester Central Library. They have baptisms from 1660 to 1860. Try emailing them at:

hi margaret thank you very much. i knew they had a son about that time but i think he died. but i did.nt know about reddish

His birth isn't on BVRI either, just this, his son?

There are a few FHC's in North Wales. Contact your nearest one and ask if they would be able to get the records for Horwich. They can ususally order them in for a charge of about £3.

You can find where they are located via the Familysearch website.

If he is not on the IGI, you need to check the Parih Records for Horwich. You may be able to order the microfilm at your local Family History Centre if you can't actually get to whichever Records Office covers Horwich.

my ggg granfather cornelius yates was born abt 1810 in horwich. i have tried i.g.i for his birth and to find his parents but nothing comes up just his marriage to rachel doodson/dootson manchester 1830. i know of his children, some kind person found them all in 1841/61/71 census. but i am really stuck on his parents can any one help please
