If you go on www.Scotlandspeople.gov.uk and search for their marriage the certificate will give you details of his parents...

Chargable site cost £6 for 30 Credits

I have a tall order here. I am trying to trace relatives in Donegal, Ireland. My grandfather John McLaughlan was born c1885 died c1949. His father, my great grandfather came to Scotland from Ireland, he was catholic and the surname was spelled McLaughlin, which was changed when he married and turned Protestant. Apparently his family never had anything more to do with him because of this, which i've always thought was very sad and tragic. My great grandfather first lived in Macmerry, East Lothian, Scotland before moving to Tranet, East Lothian. Sorry i have no other details to go on, and this is far back as i've been able to go on father's line.
