Hi, I have a challenge for you!
I have searched for a good month now for the parents of Walter Jones ( No middle name) born 1898, unfortunately I don't know where he was born, I know he died in 1972 in darlaston and from the death certicate his birth date is 3/4/1898.
He married in 1918, July the 8th, on here his dad was James Henry ( Possibly Harry?) Jones, and it didn't state deceased, so I assume he was still alive then?
Have ruled out the 2 west brom birth entrys for the second quarter of 1898, sent for the certificates and there was no match! Same with the Bridgnorth, 1901 census say's a Walter Jones lived there, but no father. (Father died?) Checked out the 1891 census, and found the same people, but head (dad) was an Edward!
Can you please please please help, it's driving me round the bend now!

Does his marraige cert give his father's occupation and were there any possible siblings/relations as witnesses?

Stephanie

Just looked on Ancestry and found a Walter Jones from Birmingham aged 3 with a father called James, mother Mary A both aged 37 and siblings Fanny 6, Lily 8 Thomas 3 months,

Could I suggest you contact your local certificate office as you have an approximate date of birth? Our local one is very good as they do not charge you if the details you give do not match parent details. I try and give them as much info as poss and they tell me if what they've found seems unlikely at which point I look again. Try West Midlands BMD and Staffs BMD. Birmingham and Darlaston are not too far apart.
