Find Ancestors

Hi,
I'm hoping someone here can help me find any information on William Roberts born c.1816 in Nottingham. He married a lady named Harriett (also from Nottingham) and they had 3 sons and 2 daughters, Henry (c.1838), Mary (c.1840), George (c.1842), Harriett (c.1846) and Samuel (c.1860). I can find no record of William's marriage or birth. Any help in finding this information would be appreciated.

If Henry born 1838 then possibly the marriage was before registration began in 1837.

Have you checked the IGI website for info

Big gap between the births of children if one born in 1860 - you could get his birth cert for the name of mother

This may be a red herring and you didn't say where in Nottingham they came from but there are two submitted messages on IGI which just might be your couple. Though they'd have married after the first children were born.

I think that's one of the submitted records I'd be suspicious of. Gedling parish is in the IGI proper, i.e. extracted records:

and no marriage like that or birth for children shows up there .... although it's conceivable that an 1842 marriage fell off the edge. ;)

My folks are from Calverton, right by Gedling, and I can't find some of them in the danged IGI either.
