If you have their marriage certificate then what is the name of Susan/Sarah's father - is he ??? Lewis or ??? Taylor and what is his occupation.
Maybe we can find her in the 1901 census

I'll second that.

You never know what we might come up with if we had a fighting chance here!

I'm still confused - if they had different names how could the signatures be the same?

Conor Report 5 May 2008 16:41

exactly, they have the same signatures on both certificates, under different names.
I'm certain she married Henry Thomas Hall, they were my great, great grandparents, and when she died Henry got married to another girl.
I may have to go to the national archives and sort all this out.

You must have meant marriage certificate:

Marriages Dec 1902
Davies Catherine Mary Neath 11a 1407
Hall Henry Thomas Neath 11a 1407
Taylor Susan Ann Neath 11a 1407
Thomas William Fred Neath 11a 1407

But are you certain that is your Henry Thomas Hall?

If it's the same signature -- you mean "Susan Ann Taylor" and "Sarah Lewis" are the same signature? That needs explaining!

I'm confused too!

"Her birth certificate says she was Susan Ann Taylor" -- how do you know this is the birth certificate of the person who was Sarah Lewis on her son's birth cert??

Ah -- could you have meant marriage certificate?

In that case, is it possible that Mr. Hall had *three* wives?

I am confused

Was Thomas & William brothers

You don't say what she was called on William's B/C

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me find William Hall's mother. She was born on 1881/2 and died when she was 30. Her birth certificate says she was Susan Ann Taylor, but on her son Thomas Hall's birth certificate it says she was Sarah Lewis. I do know this is the same person because it has the same signature on both certificates and she couldn't read or write, but it is the same one. I'd like to know who she was. She married Henry Thomas Hall who was a coal miner and was born around the same time. When she died Henry re-married to Elizabeth (unknown surname). I think they lived in Somerset and came to Wales in search of work.
Looking Forward to hear from you
Best Wishes
