wow thanks for the fast replys,
I have seen those entries in the census records and wondered if it was my Sara and William, its the place of birth that is throwing me, I have been trying to look them up on the map to see if it is in right area.
I don't know where and when they were married. Looking at the dates of birth of their children and bearing in mind they were not married when Annie was born, there is a small window of time between the next child but I have trawled through all the marriages of both Sarah and William entries and none match the names together until 1895 when a Sarah Davies married a William Hughes in Flintshire Shropshire. I am very tempted to send for that certifiacate, but unless I can find out definately who Sarah's parents were I will never be sure if I have the right Sarah Davies.
I have asked my mum if it is possible that they didnt marry untill Sarah was 21 because of not needing parental consent. Her first child was born in workhouse so I'm going along the line that her parents disowned her. My mum is the only living person left to ask and unfortunately dosent know a great deal about her fathers family.
edit:
she did know all the people listed in the 1901 census, Annie was known as Nancy and lived in Ashford Kent where she died when I was a child. The others all remained in Welshpool Richard died as a child and William did'nt marry until he was in his 50s, my grandfather Harry was the last male to be born in that branch of the family and he had only 1 child my mum. I am hoping to find them in the next census to be released.

I am trying to trace my family tree through my grandfathers side and have hit a brick wall. i have found them in the 1901 census, William Hughes abt 1876 Sarah Hughes nee Davies born abt 1875, they are listed as having 5 children Annie, twins sallie and Bessie,Richard and William, ( my grandad was born after the census)
Sarah was born or came from Buttington and according to the census William was born at Westbury Shropshire, this was a surprise because we though he always lived around the Welshpool area.
When my grandad was born in 1904 they lived in Welshpool and both died there somewhere around the mid 1950s
We do know that Annie was born before they got married in a workhouse and William was not her biological father.
I have not been able to find any other records for either of them except the 1901 census, its almost s if they didnt exist before that, any help would be appreciated.
