Glenys as you know your sister's birth name, you can send for her full birth cert. from the GRO which is now at Kew. When you get it, it will have the word 'adopted' written on one side, usually to the right as you look at it. Under or by the word 'adopted' there will be the name of a registrar. If that is the same one that registered the birth in the column on the cert. then it is highly possible that the adoption was in the same area. If it is not the same registrar, then look for the area in which that registrar worked. A number of us adoptees are trying to test out this theory to see if it works. We think it does - so here's hoping.
Also go on to the Chat board and find the thread about getting in touch with birth siblings - lots of lovely people with help advice and fun too.

hi i am trying to find my sister who was adopted her name was suzanne joy clark born june 1948 in bradford-on-avon registered in trowbridge and adopted the same year ou mothers name was eileen clark and she lived in devizes wilts.i think that suzanne's adopted name was marilyn and she was taken to live in marlborough wilts but cannot be absolutely sure.my name was glenys roberta clark.
