Member Since: April 2007 Posts: 9 Send Message	I am looking for my grandad's half-brother Herkes Thomson, born 1883 at Hebburn, England. His mother was Jane Herkes Porter Thomson and his father was her second husband Andrew Thomson. We believe Herkes jumped ship at Pietermaritzburg South Africa around 1900-02 and changed his name to John Carroll. His family in SA may not know his real name. We are not sure if he was in the army or the navy, though probably the latter as his father was a sailor. Any ideas on how to find out more about him?
