Hiya I dont know if i have come to the right board or not .There are 2 requests here sorry but i would be really gratful if someone could help me.
Ok we have recently found some WW1 medals that my nan had in her possesion that we did not know of.
1st one is from her father a H Barrett (do not know anything else regarding his name DOB etc) It has listed on the side DM2079006 regiment ASC.I have searched on Ancestry till its doing my head in but cannot find any match, not only in the WWI records but in the general ones either. My nans name was Irene Barrett (maiden name) born 1922 and she had a brother called Kenneth who we think was born 1919. I think i have found their birth records she grw up in Sheffield (mothers maiden name Smith). If anyone can shed more light on this i would be extremely grateful.
Along with his medals we also found a medal for a W Law. We do not know who this person is . I have found a military record for a Wilfred Law (Kings Rifle Corps) and everything matches the regiment number that is on the medal, but i cannot find any other record for this person , who he is or how my nan had posession of this medal.
Bit of a long shot and i am sorry i cannot be more specific but can anyone help ??!!
Many thanks
Nicki
