Katherine
Just had a thought so looked at the Jersey Archive site and sure enough Thomas's hospital admission record is there. I'll have a look next time I'm there - the Archive not the Hospital :)

Hello Katherine
Sorry it's been a while but I found this one for you
Death
9th May 1880 Thomas Neil, aged 67, Gardener, died of 'paralysie' (which I think is a stroke). Death notified by John Thelland, hospital director.

I haven't had a chance to look for Helena Ashford's birth yet but it's on my 'to do' list.

Hi Pam,
Please could you find Birth Registration or Baptisms for Alfred Henry Baker born c1870, St Peter Port, Guernsey and his Sister, Elizabeth, born c1868, also St Peter Port, Guernsey . Their Parents were Thomas Baker born 1846, Long Bredy, Dorset and Sarah Jane (Maiden Name unknown) also born Long Bredy, Dorset, 1848. I have no idea why Alfred and Elizabeth were born in Guernsey. Later Census have them living in Lancashire.
Many Thanks in anticipation,
Regards,
Ellen.

Hi Pam

Could you see if Brian Salmon died sometime after 1999 if possible?

Mary
I have been through the St Helier death registers from 1930 to 2003 and cannot find any records of any of the deaths you are looking for.
The only one that came close wa a John Marc Noel Richardson between 1981 and 1982.
I will tackle the parishes next but I think that given the possible death dates it is unlikely that at least one of them didn't die in the General Hospital.

Hello Anne (Sussex Maid)
I couldn't find a baptism for Jean (John) Romeril in St Peter but I did find this one which could be your Mary Jane.

1/6/1820 Marie Jeanne (Mary Jane) daughter of Thomas le Brocq and Anne Berne. The godparents were Phillipe du Val and Miss Marie Huelin.

All the best

Hello Liz
A Thomas Clarkson died in St Helier, Jersey on the 23rd May 1872, aged 41. He was 'of independent means' and died of 'paralysie' which probably means he had a stroke. The death was reported by a Jane Sho? - couldn't decipher the full name unfortunately and she lived at 48 Val Plaisant.
If you want a copy of the certificate the address to apply is,
Superintendent Registrar
10 Royal Square
St Helier
Jersey JE2 4WA
Copies cost £10 and the reference is St Helier Volume 23, Page 6

Hope this is your man
All the best
Pam

Liz & Alicia
I'll certainly give it a go for you - any idea which parish?
Don't expect to hear anything until at least next Tues/Wed due to the erratic opening hours of our Archive and Registry Office.

Hi Pam,,

Thank you for the offer very kind of you. I am hoping you can help me. I am looking for the death of Thomas "Tommy" Clarkson in Jersey in 1872. He was the only grandson of Thomas Clarkson the leading anti slavery campaigner..

Thank you
Liz

I'll do my best for you but it may take a few days, the Archive won't be open again until Tues. Also Richardson is quite a common name over here - luckily I haven't come across many Augustus's!

Pam,

I've just found my first message to you and your reply to me (Thank you). I hope the extra information in my second request might help. We do not know, but assume that if they did move it was after their marriages. The thought in the family is that the reason they moved to the Channel Isles was because of the women in their lives. So do Edith C Newberry or Norma M Belnaves originate from there and do they have any relatives still living?

Hi Pam,

Can I request your help please? If this is a repeat of one I thought I had sent you a couple of days ago I apologise, but I couldn't see the first one on the site, so assume it did not get sent!

I am looking for two relatives named RICHARDSON who it is thought moved to Jersey. They are Augustus J (B 1914) who married Edith C Newberry in Dartford Kent in 1935. Secondly Noel C (B 1920) who married Norma M Belnaves in 1949 in Dartford Kent? I have searched the death records from 1971 to 2004 without finding any evidence of their deaths. Did they have any children? Are their wives from the Channel Isles? Is there any evidence of their having lived or living on the Channel Isles? Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thank You Mary
