My grandmother's father was a Michael McDaid who married Mary Maguire on 12 May 1881 in Limavady. On the marriage certificate it gave his father's name as John McDaid, a weaver and he was alive in 1881. His first wife died in 1884 and he remarried in 1886. On the marriage certificate states that his father was a farm labourer and his mother was a Susan Tolan. Know he had one sister her name was Bridget - at least that is what I think my mum said - cant get this verified as she died three years ago. Mum also mentioned a brother David. I wrote to a Geneologist in Belfast and he told me that I would need to research this family inthe Long Tower area of Londonderry or St Eugines Cathedral. To go back the next generation I need to know how I can do this research on line or if anyone can help with info as I live in Scotland |
