hi.. im looking for a matthew edwards, i know nothing about him except he was a boat man, i recived my grandparents marraige cert and it states he is my grandmas sarah colmondley father? confused so am i.. they were married in 1887 ellesmere.she married a james wilde
could anyone poss help me

hi her full name is sarah ann cholmondley age 18 at time of marraige,
but looking through records none of this matches, there are sarah ann and sarah jayne, but the only sarah ann does not match the age on cert..

i have to take my daughter to nursery now so if i dont respond straight away i will do as soon as i get back

If her name is different to that of her father it indicates a previous marriage, or indeed he is her step father....

Does it indicate if she is a divorcee or widow?

no she a spinster,i have found on holts index a louisa cholmondley who is married to a matthew edwards with a daughter called louisa cholmondley but no sign of a sarah?
i have been searching for this for so long.. hope a fresh pair of eyes might spot something i have overlooked x

The 1851 census would appear to indicate that Matthew was in fact born in Kerry Montgomeryshire Wales (1841 Sep Q Newtown Montgomeryshire) although he is living Woverhampton (4 Springfields St) with father JohnEdwards (b 1809 Kerry, Mont.) and Mother Hannah (b 1810 Carno Mont.) and siblings Richard b1838 Kerry, John b1846 Kerry

The 1871 census shows Louisa Cholmondly 23 (Boatwoman) with her Mother Elizabeth b1806 . daughter Louisa 4, brothers William 29 and Thomas 23 both Boatmen - in Bilston Staffs
