Need to find birthplace of JOSEPH GREEN (b.1820/21).In the 1851 census he is married to Rosa and living at Carlisle,Cumberland.
I have hit the wall now as Rosa was from Ireland. Joseph was my g.g.grandfather and I would appreciate any help.

Hi Angie,
The census must be 1881,which I have already.
The Joseph you found is too old as I have just got a copy of Joseph's death cert: Feb 1889,Carlisle at 12 Peascods Lane. He was 69 years old, which makes it 1820/21 when he was born.
Thanks anyway

Richard

This is the only one showing for that time Richard. Have you seen the other tree on ancestry, besides yours, that names these parents as well. What about a marriage certificate?

Hi,
don't rely on age on death cert as being correct.....it often isn't.
Not all births in Scotland were recorded pre 1855...It depended on whether or not the parent's were church goers in many cases as Parish Records were held by the clergy....You may never find Joseph's birth

***Alviegal***,Thanks for that.
Yes I have seen this Joseph but he is also in the Scottish 1851 census so I'm still stuck!
Haven't had any luck finding marriage cert either, could be England OR Scotland. I do have Marriage cert.for g/grandfather James who was married at Carlisle at Chapel Street,Catholic Chapel but dont know where to find RC church records.
Any tips appreciated.

Hi Richard,

Could Joseph Green have been born in Scotland? There is just one birth of a Joseph Green (b.1820/21) on ScotlandsPeople..
