Firstly, thank you so kindly for taking the time tosearch for me Jeanette.

The only one that would come anywhere close to Samuel is the 1940 one. But this would have made Elsie (his Mum) 14years of age - so things are looking less hopeful.

1912 George Scott was born = Crookham, Ford, Northumberland, England
1926 Elsie Garrett was born = Amble, Warkworth, Alnwick, Northumberland
1945 (December) George & Elsie married = Trinity(?) Church, Bowmont St, Kelso
1948 They had my Mum = Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavillion, Edinburgh

So I am assuming between or around 1945 and 1948 was when Samuel was born.

What does the 'M 0' mean?

Does anyone think it may be possible that, because of his young age at death, he may not have had his birth registered? - A long shot I know, as registering births was law by this time - yes?

I think that the solution is to go to the Records Office in Edinburgh at some point.
I am still relatively new to research and am picking up the ways of it as time is going on - but it is such a struggle at times when we can see family names we know to be in the ancestry of ours yet to confirm it, we get 'blocked' by not being able to find details regarding the people that link us to those others.
I hope to find out the details behind Samuel soon enough.
Only it will have to be placed on hold until finances are better - again LOL.

Have you tried asking for a Scottish lookup? There are some people on here who specialise in Scotland. Just a thought. Very best wishes in your search.

I am trying to find ANY information anyone may have on Samuel Issac Scott.
His sister (my Mum) and I merely wish to place him in the family tree and place him at rest.
Samuel's was born c1944 to George Ford Scott and Elsie Scott(nee Garrett).
Samuel died at a VERY young age - not even reaching his first birthday...this was before my Mum was born. George and Elsie have since passed away years ago.
We just cannot seem to find his Death nor Birth registration - possibly born at the same place as my mother in Edinburgh.
If he did not die the SAME year, then it means he was born in the later months of the year and died a few months (maybe 4-5months) later the following year.
They lived in Wooler, northumberland at some point.
WE KNOW - that there is some delicacy surrounding his death - He died of what is known today as 'cot death' 'medical reasons unknown/natural causes' we think and that it caused a great deal of heartache to their mother & father.
IF anyone can help - please do not hesitate to contact me via this site.
EVEN if you think it is the smallest detail.
Warmest reguards and heartfelt thanks in advance.
