To go back further, you really need to buy the marriage certificate. it will give you their ages and fathers names and occupation. like lindylu said, turners a very common name and apparently so is a marriage between a turner and bashford. I found 3 births of a turner child with mmn bashford in the march quarter 1924 and i only looked at a few of them.

Are you sure of your Dads birth year? Who was the eldest out of the brothers and sisters?

Have you any idea where your grandparents married?

Once we get their marriage you can send for the certificate and it will give you their fathers names and you can work back from there. Trouble is turner is such a common name!
