Hi, I am trying to find information regarding my grandfathers mother. He was born Albert Joseph Morris, 17th April 1915. His mother was Mary Ellen Morris, who was working at 9 Swan Crescent as a domestic servant. That is all the info I have on her, she is a mystery.

Albert was given up to another family, also Morris'. He was raised by them, in Rhydycroesau. He went on to Marry Elizabeth Eurwen Morris and have two children, Glenys and Mairwen.

I am seriously banging my head against a brick wall with this one.

Thanks for any help.

Marriage for Mary Ellen Morris to Richard Thomas Morris:

Marriages Mar 1905 (>99%)

EVANS Margaret Oswestry 6a 987
JONES Maurice Lloyd Oswestry 6a 987
> MORRIS Mary Ellen Oswestry 6a 987
> MORRIS Richard Thomas Oswestry 6a 987

There is a Mary Ellen Morris on the 1901 census, aged 22, born c1879 in Oswestry, Shropshire, England. She is living with a family as a Servant/Dairy maid..

BUT there are quite a few possibilities for her birth around 1879. The only way you could be certain would be to order her marriage certificate.

Cheers all, i do have his birth cert. only has his mothers name and address as previously mentioned.

I am not really sure why he was raised by someone else. As with most of these things back then it was severly frowned upon. I do have one auntie left alive who probably has some clues, but still to this day she will not talk about it.

The search continues.

Thanks Eleanor, I think she is born a little to early. She would have been about 55 when she gave birth to my grandfather.

I didn't realise that there so many Mary Ellen Morris' around.
