Hello, I am researching my Great-Great-Grandfather, Samuel Allen. I found his name out from records at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) which records the death/disappearance of his son, my Great-Grandfather, Harry Allen. Harry was declared one of the missing on 1st July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme WW1. Harry Allen (b c1979) and his family lived in South Grove, St Ann's Road, Tottenham, London, UK at the time of his (Harry's) death. Harry had 10 children, amongst whom was my Grandmother Lillian (b 1904), who later married George Henry Neate.
With further research I located a Harry Allen in the 1891 census in Tottenham, London, when he was 12. I almost certain this is the same Harry Allen due the precise age and vicinity of the address to the address where Harry's family lived at the time of his death. However, the cencus does not show a father (presumably Samuel) at the address. It only lists a Widow Margaret Allen. Harry appears to have been born in Cheadle, and Margaret was born in Holloway near to Tottenham.
I estimate the year of birth of Samuel Allen to be c1850. Can any one help?

Hi Dave. Further to the above info.
Samuel appears on 1891 and 1901 as a boarder. age 34 an d 44. Bricklayer.
He either was not living with his family or was working away, yet he lived in 1891 in 5 Chandley St. Cheadle..
With a copy of the marriage certificate that you have details of above it will givwe their ages,. their Father's names and occupations, and witnesses who may be siblings. Ethel.
