Hi, please can any of you help me find a birth or baptism for a Maria Clark born 1818c in Oakford, Fitzpain, Devon, England. Maria married a Thomas Board in 1843 Dorset.

Any help on this will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Have you looked on familysearch.org?

Do you know her father's name?

Have you bought her marriage certificate to get her fathers name and occupation?

Hi Heather and Selena

No I have not got the marriage certificate yet, I am still waiting. First one was lost in the post and the second has not yet been sent. I have had a look at familysearch but come up with nothing that I can see.

Probably wise to wait and see the fathers details Carol and go from there. There may be ways round it, like online parish clerks, free reg or even emailing the local records office for a search. Devon seems very active on the Online Parish Clerk side - have a google to see if it covers the parish you want.

Try the online parish clerks though, they were extremely helpful for my Cornish lot.

Ive pmd you, but in case anyone else is reading this - just google Online Parish Clerks and the area you are looking in. There are volunteers who will do look ups in their area using their own resources usually. They are very good but not all areas coverered.

I would just like to say thank you to Heather Posi for giving me the information on Online Parish Clerks, I have managed to go back as far as the mid 1700s now. Fantastic bit of info!!
