I have found his birth as above but can't find him anywhere in the 1881 census under Alderman (although I know that it was is on freebmd)

Have you got him on the 1881 census or 91 or 1901 under this name

As anyone got an Alderman Arthur Mitchell in their tree he was born 1876 married in1909 to Ellen Davis had two sons Arthur John 1910 & George C in 1914
