inquest report.

James Brittain died following a furnace accident in Aug 1911 at PATRICROFT lANCS. . i have the death certificate but would like to find any newspaper reports on the accident. Can anyone advise.Audrey

Google to find the nearest large library (not records office) which has a family history section. The library's hold back copies of the local papers. If it was an accident, there would have been an inquest, this would have been reported in the local paper. If there was an inquest, the death certificate should have been issued by the local coroner and the inquest date should be on it. This will help the library to find the report in the paper. They usually make a charge for doing it, which will be less than the cost of going there yourself.

If there was an inquest, it may be that the inquest report survived, but this is not usual. It is worth checking the holdings of the nearest records office just in case.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.I CONTACTED THE LOCAL HISTORY LIBRARY WHO WERE ABLE TO GET ME ACOPY OF THE ACCIDENT/INQUEST REPORT ON MY GFATHER. IT GAVE ALOT OF INFO. & FILLED AUDREYIN A LOT OF GAPS RE. HIS LIFE.
