Find Ancestors

Born c.1894, Violet Felicia Alice Cooper was my maternal great-grandmother - she married young (appx 16 years old? but think she may have lied about her age!) to a much-older man, Richard Keen. He was a widower with several children, I believe, but went on to have a further 4 children with Violet.

Having terrible trouble trying to find her birth cert (Cooper) and death cert (Keen) - she died in the early 1950's. Unfortunately, there isn't much family left on my mum's side that can give us any info other than what we have - there seems to be some sort of 'skeleton in the closet' though, because of what was said years ago by some family members?! Maybe because she was so young when she got married?

I don't know whether the name 'Elkins' is significant either, because my maternal grandmother's maiden name was Delphine Sheila Elkins Keen. Wondering if 'Elkins' was a family name from Violet or Richard?

If anyone can throw some light on the subject, I would be most grateful.

do you know where she was born

The problem with finding births is that the name under which a child is registered may not be the name that you have ..... she may have been registered as Violet, and then Felicia Alice added at her christening.

There are many Violet Coopers on freebmd, and it is difficult to separate them without knowing where she was born.
