that is a good point it may be so as my mother inlaw did tell me that Arthur and Maud met when she was 13 and she went to stay with him |

According to my mother in law Maud's parents died when she was young and she was looked after by her brother till 13 afterwhich she went and worked for a doctor, Arthur did not like the way she was being treated by the doctor and was her knight in shinning armor and took her to stay with him |

Hi Libby as you can see I its quite confusing thankyou for the info thus far I am off to bed as its really late here but will check back tommorow to see if you were able to find any more info or then again it may still be as clear as mud tommorow lol |

Libby -it would in fact make her 12 (From Sep 1899 to Dec 1911) and was perfectly legal for a girl of that age to marry (with parents consent ) until the 1920s and we are talking about deep in the countryside -I would suggest getting this marriage cert to check ages |
