Thanks Christine, I thought as much, but had not noticed any transcribed up to date, so was hopeful. I have been through Ancestry.co.uk & GR a dozen times, but can find nothing relating to Carus and a handful of Mary or Mary A Wood, but nothing that seems to add up to age at death or year of death, but thanks again for replying.

Hi Ann, thank you so much for looking - I found several Mary's, but like you nothing linked up. Also just noticed, did you look for Wood or Woods, there is no 's' on her name. Thanks again. Alison

Hi Alison,

You won't find them on Free BMD because as you have discovered they have only been transcribed up to mid 20's.

For dates after that you have to trawl all the individual qtrs and subscribe to one of the sites to do it.

Hi, as a newbie I was wondering if any of you kind people could help me out.

I am trying to find my Great Grandad's death. His name is Carus Wood. I have found his birth on Freebmd as Carus Foss Wood 1892. I have also found his marriage to my Great Grandma Mary Agnes Carter in 1915, but cannot find anywhere anything relating to his death. He was born and married in Basford, Nottingham(shire) and I have been told by my Dad that he died in the Nottingham area, but he has no idea when.

Also, while looking at the marriage and Census for 1901 I have noticed that nothing mentions the Foss middle name. Would this have been used or could he have just not used the middle name. It's also not mentioned in my Grandad's birth certificate, so I'm wondering whether these are the same person.

I'm also having trouble finding my Great Grandma's death. I have found several Mary Wood's, but nothing that links in to what I know. My Dad says that Mary died in approx 1959 and was 70ish when she died. Again I have looked in Freebmd, but can't seem to get anything to come up after 1929.

If someone could tell me where to look to find this information, it would be most appreciated as I would like to order Certificates of birth & marriage, but would like to know these are the correct ones before I order.

Many thanks
Alison
