Can anyone help, please?
Has anyone out there got a past relative called Doris (possibly Lewis) that lived in Canada around 1919.

She may have been married to Willie Alcwyn/Alcuin Lewis (1883 -1919) who travelled to Canada in the early 1900's from Carmarthen South Wales.

Willie Lewis got called up to serve in the trenches of WW1 in 1917 (aged 36).
He survived the war but died in 1919 and is buried in Montreal's Military Cemetary.

If Doris wasn't married to Willie Lewis, was she married to James Lewis (1886 - ????) who emergrated to the USA in the early 1900's from Carmarthen Wales.
Nothing much is known about these two brothers, and even less about this lady called Doris who appears in single photograph which is of the same style as the one of Willie Lewis.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Willie Alcwyn Lewis

Seems to have lied his way into the Canadian army. His srvice number was 2381989, this is the same on his recruitment paper as on the cwgc website.
The address's he gave on his call up paper were as follows.

Place of birth: Inverness Quebec Canada.
On 18th October 1917 he was living at 268 Spence Street, Winnipeg, Canada.

Next of Kin was living at 174 Rue Selby, Westmount, Quebec Canada.
His Mother was Elizabeth Lewis (which would be correct) His father died in 1906.
He signed the paperwork as Alcuin, we cannot understand why.

On the Wargraves website all the info is correct. And the same service number.

We cannot think why he changed so many details. But where does Doris fit into all this.

Go here
http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14

and dial the following info in and see what we mean.

Casualty
surname = Lewis
Initial = W A
First world War
Army
Canadian

then submit
Click on his name and you'll get what we feel may be the correct information, as his mother is correctly indentified as she never left Wales for example.

A big thanks to Lorraine last night for the help with Willie Lewis. The 1911 census records were unknown until then.

However we are still looking for Doris.

Does any of the details so far ring any bells?
