Dear Members

Sadly my grandad has passed away and I would like to find links to the family tree. His name was Derek Albert Baker 1937-2003 married Barbara Cryer 1944-Present. I would like to find out his parents details which may help me locate their parents of which we might find more relatives.

I currenlty know he had a sister mary and a brother treveor and an adopted brother frank.

Please can anyone help, I have found alot about my fathers side now I would like to know more of my mothers.

Regards
Shane

P.s. please request to see tree if it helps

According to his death info, Derek was born on the 7th Aug 1937 & died in Somerset.

There is only one birth of a Derek A Baker in the 3rd qtr of 1937 and that was in Huntingdon ref 3b 311 & the mothers maiden name was Lane.

I assume that he did not marry in 1944 at the age of 7?

Why would they be 37 before having children?

If they married at 21 then they would only be 32 before derek was born.

Shane

Shane Report 8 Sep 2008 14:47

Yeh sorry about that maths was never my strong point. Well if they married at 18 then derek would have been born when they was 29.

I would suggest getting their marriage cert, as there are too many possibilities in going back any further.

Incidentally there are births between 1926 & 1932, 7 in all, where the father's surname is Baker & the mother's name is Lane.

The nearest one to St Ives/Huntingdon is Birmingham

Hi apologies to going backward to the Cryer family again there is a tree on ancestry which traces the family back to 1632. The tree is owned by a John Cryer who lives in New Zealand. Are you in contact with this relative?

Shane

Shane Report 8 Sep 2008 15:18

Yes he is my relative and he has done a great amount of work on that side of the family tree.. my turn to find baker roots
