Hi Catherine. Thanks for info. It looks like Maria Leck was brought up by the grandmother, Maria Hake. The age tallies because in the 1861 Census she was named as Maria Hake aged 6 years. It seems a coincidence but I have info from Family Search website which states that a Rosannah Hake married a Edward Leek at Manchester Cathedral on the 8th February 1853. Could Leck be indeed Leek? At the present time I haven't started a family tree. I've started this on behalf of my wife, Margaret nee Hake. Thanks once again, Vernon. |

I'm trying to find the birthplace of possibly John Hake who died before the 1861 Census. In this census his widow was Maria Hake aged 61, cap maker and head of the household. The family at this time were living at 9 Delph Street, Manchester. Issue as follows: Rosannah aged 27, William 25, John 23 and Samuel 19. The Hake family is well documented in Manchester after this census but before this I can't find a link. i.e. John Hake and Maria Hake's birthplace. |
