I am looking for my ancestor, George Middleton b. 1836, Harrow on the Hill, father Samuel. George later moved to Islington but returned to the Greenford area after his marriage. I would be very grateful if anyone can find him as I'm having trouble locating a mother for George because I can't order a birth cert. |

Thanks for both of those, they look possible. We only have George's birth date from his death cert from June 1871 when he was 34 (died of smallpox, nasty) so that would mean he was probably born 1836/7 but I know that these things are often wrong. |

I've just checked free BMD for a birth for George for 1839 but there doesn't seem to be anything likely, I therefore presume this one might be 'mine'! Is there any way of finding his parents marriage records? |

Do you have George's marriage cert for his father's occupation? |

Hi Tania, did you have a place of birth for Sophia please? |

Hi Christine, Samuel was a sawyer according to the cert so we are likely to be looking at the right family then! |

Seems as if it is the right one, here are the family in 1861. did the age on marriage cert tie up with birth or death? |

Is this your family in 1871? Which one of the children are you descended from as I can't find them after 71? |

Thanks for all that Christine! The marriage cert just said Full Age so I've only had the death cert for George to work out his birth date. |

Wow! This is obviously the origin of the Anne Negus 'adopted child' living with George and family in 1871, probably a child or grandchild of this Ann, thank you very much for all that information Tania, this has been a mystery for a while. |

Thank you for all that info Christine, I wonder why little Ann was living with George and family then, she was a long way from her parents...I've tried to find her on the 1881 census but no luck yet. |
