OK Susan, just found this again - will bump it up.

His father's name is given as Charles W Jones Engineer (deceased). Witnesses Alexander Wilson and William McDowell - according to family lore he and my grandmother met at school - she was also deaf and dumb and is listed so on the census. That looks like the correct marriage (I have a copy of the marriage certificate). Charles was an engraver. I cannot find him on any of the census returns. The address for Charles was given as 42 Loncroft Road SE5. Alice was born in Greenwich.

could this be them in 1901? charles is listed as an out of work fruitier, but no mention of him being deaf and dumb

So I take it this is the marriage? What address does he give as residence on it? What is his occupation

On his marriage certificate what details are there for his father? Where did he marry? Who are the witnesses. How do you know he is deaf and dumb - have you found him on a census?

Charles William Jones born 1870 (according to his marriage certificate). He married Alice Susan McDowell in 1894 but I cannot find any other traces of him, he was deaf and dumb.
