Find Ancestors

I am researching my father's family. My grandfather William Charles Wright was born in Fittleworth and had two brothers Alfred and Ernest. I am almost sure his mother's maiden name was Standen. I know that my grandfather was married and had a son before he went to war in 1914-1918. Something happened while he was away and when he came back he left his wife and son. He did not marry my grandmother until his first wife had died many years later. Does anybody recognise any facts that may tie up with their family trees?
