Can anyone please help, I am having no end of trouble trying to find information on my great great Grandfather William Hill, Born in upton upon severn Worcester in c1826. He married a Harriett Leddington in 1856 in the parish of St Swithens in Worcester. They had the following children Harvey, Ernest, Annie, Harry, Alice, Mary, and James. Now my trouble begins as in the 1881 census of Worcester shows Harriett married to a George Gardner and three of the children are still living with her. I am unable to find either a divorce or death record for William, it could be just me not looking in the right place, so can someone please help And point me in the right direction.

First step.......find the 'marriage' of Harriet and George Gardner..........if there was one.

If the first husband was still alive, the odds are that there was no second marriage.

Divorce was unheard-of : except for the very wealthy
