You can try contacting Kath (the one who started this thread in 2008) by clicking on her name in green at the top of her post, and sending a private message.

If she hasn't changed her email address since then, GR will be able to notify her that there's a message from you.
She may or may not be able to receive it, and may (or may not) be willing and able to reply.

However, as Kath had already found, there is no marriage showing on SP for John Gold (or alternative spelling) and Margaret Gray.
Many records from so far back have not survived, or perhaps didn't exist in the first place.

Kath posted about the Gold family nearly 16 years ago and hasn't posted again so it's very unlikely she will see your reply.

I have a Robert Gold b. 1786 - Carmichael Lanarkshire.
His parents were John Gold & Margaret Gray. All checked on Scotlandspeople. I cannot find a marriage for John Gold & Margaret Gray or any other children.
There is a gravestone for a Margaret Gray in Carmichael Cemetery which says Margaret Gray, Spouse to John Gold, Ponfeigh, who died 28th December 1807 aged 44 years which is if this is the correct Margaret Gray would make her born around 1763c.
As for the father, John Gold, I haven't a clue when he was born or where. It will definitely have been in Carmichael, Douglas, ponfeigh or Lesmahagow areas.

Can anyone help with this or any advice on where to go from here?
