Mary Report 8 Oct 2008 13:18

Hello and many thanks to everyyone who answered my first thread about my grandmother Mary Green. I've now got 2 birth certs and unfortunately there not the right ones. This is the definite info I have about her. She died in July 1967 aged 82 which means she was born 1885/6 She married Thomas Armstrong on 23rd May 1904 their m.cert shows their ages as Mary Green 21 and Thomas 23 in the R.C. church in Stanley. I'm sure this is the right cert even though their ages don't tally with the info I've got. Thomas was born on 14/6/1878 I've got his birth cert. Now if Mary married had children and died she must have been born! but where?

Did she have a middle name?

The only Mary Green which corresponds with the census is this one

Births Dec 1881 (>99%)

GREEN Mary Sunderland 10a 518

You can order a cert giving the father's name as a checking point and if it isn't the correct one they will refund some of the money.

Hi Mary,

Did you sort out Thomas Armstrong?

If I remember correctly you said his father's name on marriage cert didn't correspond with the birth cert.

No I haven't but I think it must be right cert. They lived in Stanley and were Roman Catholics and the date of m.c.was a year before my eldest uncle was born. I was so confused I decided to look at other family members and I remembered my gt. aunt Annie I got her birth cert which gave me my granmdas sister name. I then went back to census and realised dates are not very accurate. With this in mind I answered a a hot match and found my grandmas sisters family. So thanks to you and "searchers" things are falling into place. Thanks once again
