Hi Rebecca

I can't see the marriages in 1983! One thought, have you checked the references? It is possible that the ladies are the same person and she may have changed her name by deed poll to Allen before they married. The marriage might then be registered under both her surnames. If the references are the same then this is likely the case or she was married before, but I can't find them to check!

Regards
LfW

Update:
Scrub that, just found the marriages in different quarters in 1982!!

I am trying to my mums dad. They were married in the 1940s and they split when my mum was about 6 months old, and she was an only child. My nan wouldn't let my mum know her dad. About 1982, my mums dad wrote in the paper asking to find my nan because they wern't divorced and he wanted to get married again. i have been looking through the marriage records and i have found a couple of Robert W Allen in there, both in 1983, One of them he married a lady with the surname Allen, and the other one had Beer as a surname. I hope this sounds familiar to someone, as my mum would love to know if she has any more brothers or sisters, or even a step mum. Many thanks
