Hi Shirley

Thank you,.I've been looking for record of great uncle Stanley's death for years and now to have it in writing is very emotional. My mother was his favourite niece and she often spoke of him and I have lots of photos of him in his different seasonal uniforms. His last Christmas card to mum was one he had painted in watercolour of Vimy Ridge.
I shall take a trip to the memorial site next year and see it for myself.

Again thank you
Rosie

I'm looking for any info on my great uncle stanley from He was born Stanley Edward Williams in 1890 in Croydon to Emily Virtue - nee Griffin and John Alexander John Williams. He had brother Alexander John and sisters Emily Mary, and Mable Louise. Stanley
emigrated to canada c1912 where he joined the mounted police (RCMP) He was based at Saskatchewan but he died in France i2nd september 1918. He was in the 46th Canadian Batallion and i have a Christmas card he sent my mother from the 10th Canadian Infantry Brigade 1917. He wrote regularly to my mother Hilda Williams and I have his last letter he wrote to her which only arrived after his death.

Stanley was sent to Canada by his family when they found out a girl was expecting his baby. It would be great to find out more about his time as a mountie and any possible family links - it's such a long time ago now but you never know -
Other relevant names are Walker, Edmonds, Griffin and Cole and Weatherfield his sisters married names.
