hi i have a mysterious walter hill living with my great grandad and wife in hereford in the 1881 census i'm just trying to find out what relation he is to my great grandfather as i can't find out anywhere! my great grandfather was richard hill born 1843 in lancashire and married elizabeth hill they are ther in the census

what does it say in the relationship column?

I had one like this where the child showed as visitor. Turned out to be their grandchild but it took me a few years to find that out!

You may need to just make a note of him until you've tracked your gr grandparents back a bit more - I expect one of their sons is the child's father.

and as far as i know they didn't have any children because my great grandfather remarried after elizabeth died she is no relation to me richards second wife is my great grandmother

You might only find out given time - if you research all the siblings etc.
