Sorry i have searched lots of sites and nothing.I do think that Thomas was at sea at the time of the census and this is why he is not showing.It is really disappointing i know.Mariners are the hardest people to research as i mentioned before.
The one compensation you do have is you know Mary Ann's maiden name. Your next step now would depend on where you live.If you live near Norfolk that would be my first guess for the marriage record.You could search the records there for Mary Ann Cox and her marriage to Thomas Hall.If you are not near Norfolk then i would google for Norfolk lookup exchange and see what lookups they have to offer.First place to try would be where the 1st child was born, as its possible they married there also.
Another idea would be to ring the Norfolk records office and ask them to advise your options, they may do a lookup for you, which you would have to pay for. Other options are to ask on the Records Office Board if there are any members living in Norfolk willing to look for you.
I did notice on 1 site a family of Halls in Norfolk King Lynns.The records were for baptism's after 1813 there were children born to a John Hall who was a boatman and his wife Mary Ann.Maybe nothing but is a poss for Thomas's family.Although Hall is not the most uncommon surname is it!

Found this info on a site re sailors on census records

1841 Seamen on shore on census night were enumerated in the same way as the general public, in the place where they spent that night. There was no provision made for recording seamen at sea on census night.

I have looked and looked and nothing.My advice to you would be to obtain both marriage certs in a hope that 1 of them will hold clues.
This surname is very mistransribed through the records. This could be the problem? Although all my usual methods to find mistranscriptions have not worked...and this is unusual. I am also wondering if he was born with mother's surname?can't see a death for the father which again makes me wonder re surname? The 1901 and 1911 list him as Henry E Lovesay and both do say Lambeth, but experience has shown me does not always mean 100% he was born in Lambeth.
I am really sorry wish i could have helped.

Re Thomas Hall, I have not sent for any death certs as I have no idea of Thomas's age . He was alive cJan 1842 as he had a daughter born September 1842. His wife Mary Ann remarried in Sept 1849.
My hope was that he was there in 1841 census, it was just me who couldn't find him.
I hope you come across something later.

I will take a look for you. Although i think it is most likely that a census wasnt taken for him. Mariner's are often left off census records...especially the earlier census records. The 1841 was the first census and many people are not recorded on it. With later census records if a person was not at home on the night of the census it was followed up, however earlier census this did not always happen. If Thomas was a mariner it is quite possible he was at sea on the night of the census and so was not listed. I have seen many cases of this. I once reseached a mariner and only found him on 1 census! and he was alive for 80 years.
I will see if i can find anything. Have you sent for any of the possible death certificates? On my first look i saw a Thomas Hall as a patient on the 1841 and a death late 1842 in same area.Maybe nothing will look further later.

I would really appreciate your help with finding any details on the 1841 census for Thomas Hall, mariner. I have tried so many times with no success.
I have the baptism record for his son William born in Lynn ,Norfolk in 1838, fathers name Thomas Hall, mariner, mothers name Mary Ann.
I have his daughter Betsy Ellens birth certificate, born Boston, Lins in 1842, Father Thomas Hall, mariner, mother Mary ann Cox.
I can find Mary Ann Hall [born Boston Lincs] with children in 1841 Boston Lincs census but no sign of Thomas.
By 1851 Boston Census Mary Ann has remarried [Martin Parvin] so presumably Thomas is dead.
I have no idea of his age or place of birth so the 1841 census is my only hope.
Please will you try to find him for me?
