No offence intended, but please note readers, that this Eileen is not me, I sign myself
Eileen
birth name
I know that the fact that we both have the same name on the boards has caused confusion in the past, so now I always sign myself as above.

Thanks for your interest, Evie. No, Patricia's brother did not become a doctor. He was born in Southport, but I think the family's home at the time was in Tanganyika. Father Arthur Clifford Baker is described on the birth cert. as 'Office Superintendant, Public Works Department, Tanganyika. It seems the family arrived in England in 1955, heading for an address in Southport which I understand was probably that of Arthur's parents. I don't know whether they went out to Tanganyika again. I am told Arthur died 'many years ago' supposedly in England but haven't been able to determine when. I wonder if there is any way of obtaining information from the Civil Service?
Anthony, a restauranteur, married in Brighton in 1985, which is why I thought his sister Patricia might have connections there. He had 2 children, but I've found he died in 2005 and he was almost certainly divorced before then. My approaches to his ex-wife /widow or his children (now aged 22 and 20) have failed.
Anthony and Patricia's mother - Dorothy nee KOM, had a sister Patricia who married my 2nd cousin and they emigrated to Canada in the 1950's. The sisters lost contact, but I have been asked to try and find any surviving family, as the Canadians have just one daughter and no other living family.
I don't expect any of this is of any use .... but thanks for your interest.

A very very long shot ... is it at all likely that Anthony became a doctor?

Googling

"anthony baker" tanzania

there is an Australian plastic surgeon by that name involved in medical missions to Tanzania. Is it possible that the family relocated to Australia? If so, it could be that the son would have maintained this kind of tie to Tanzania.

Your details here are sketchy. You may be saying that you understand the family returned to England.

Any other info you have, e.g. father's occupation (which could provide clues to where they may have gone), could help.

Patricia was born 6 Feb.1945, probably in Palestine. Her parents were Arthur Clifford BAKER and Dorothy, nee KOM. She spent her early years in TANGANYIKA. I am trying to help her cousin in Canada who would dearly love to make contact. Can anyone please help me to find her? Arthur's relatives were in SOUTHPORT but she may have connections with BRIGHTON. She had a brother Anthony, b. 1952. I don't know whether or not she married.
