Find Ancestors

My grandfather married my grandmother Violet Treeves on 25 June 1927 at The Church of the Holy Name (Roman Catholic), Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester. His age on the marriage certificate says he was 20. He is shown as living in Ducie St (2, 4 or 21 - diffcult to make out) Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester at time of marriage.
After they married, they lived 10 Thomas Street, Rusholme in 1935 and moved to 56 Overdale Road, Wythenshaw around 1938/9, where my grandmother lived until her death in 1977.

Unfortunately I understand that they seperated around 1940 and divorced on 12 July 1944 (Decree Absolute) - my gradmother re-married the same year.

I know virtually nothing about my grandfather other than he was known as Billy - was shown as a Painter Journeyman on his marriage certificate and shows his father as also William Frederick Walker.

I did hear that he may have gone to live in Anglesey, North Wales around 1940 and maybe became a fireman - of could he have started a new family.

If anyone thinks they may know anything I would be very grateful - my father doesn't remember his father at all and it would be great to find out what happened to him.

Monk, your information was spot on - fantastic - at last we know who my grandfather was - his father was also William Frederick and his mother Pollie Pickering.

What I can't find anywhere is my grandfather's death.

I've had a look for his death from 1983 onwards, couldn't see one. To search before then you would need to search quarter by quarter and that would take a long time.

It's going to be difficult to find his death unless it was after 1984, because before that every individual qtr will have to be searched.
