Through the generous help of the Parish Clerk in Ashington (Sussex) I have discovered my grandparent's headstone upon which is also marked "Marie Baker died July 21st 1933". I have traced what appears to be her entry in the Deaths Register and that gives her age at death of 22 (Steyning 2b 354). |

Perhaps you may find more info about her if you get the death cert? |

Thank you all for such prompt replies. She was born a Baker and did not marry AFAIK. I think Deborah may have found her - I was concentrating on the Thakeham entries. Perhaps there was a cottage hospital or something in the Steyning Parish. |
