Hi Nerine,
Yes that's his birth registration,
Thanks Dee xx

Thanks EvieBeavie for looking for me, his occupation was a coalminer so I wouldn't have thought he would have travelled.
The children were born in 1894. 1895, 1897 and 1900, so I would have thought he would be around somewhere close.
Benjamin died in 1882, so I can't search that way, and Clara was with her Uncle. It just seems strange that I can't see him on both the 1891 and 1901 census.
Many thanks again, can't wait until the 1911 census, hoping he'll turn up in that (fingers crossed)!!!!!!!!

Meant to say -- the consistent use of his middle name/initial might indicate that he went by that middle name, i.e. could show up as George once he was an adult.
Of course, I haven't found him that way ...

You have sister Clara in 1891? No sign of Benjamin that I can see.
Name: Clara Harris Age: 19 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1872 Relation: Niece Where born: Silverston, Northamptonshire, England Civil Parish: Hugglescote and Donington Town: Coalville County/Island: Leicestershire Registration district: Ashby De La Zouch

Just for the info that she's in the same place ...

What was his occupation on the marriage certificate? Any chance he was a travelling man?
The Anglo-Boer War is always a possibility for missing men of that age in 1901.
Unfortunately, it's a common name. There were a half-dozen of them in the Imperial Yeomanry:
http://www.britishmedals.us/files/iyh.htm
-- one W and 3 Williams with no middle name or initial. If you think that's a real possibility, the records can be consulted at Kew. (I can recommend someone to retain if it's something you want to pursue eventually.)
Hang in there! Greater mysteries have been solved here. :)

Hi Folks,
A while back I started my search for William G Harris, with some help I have some info, however this gent, my G G Grandfather, still remains elusive on the 1891 & 1901 census. Maybe I just need a fresh pair of eyes, here's what I have;
1871 England Census about William George Harris Name: William George Harris Age: 3 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1868 Relation: Son Father's Name: Robert Mother's Name: Emma Gender: Male Where born: Regents Park, London, England Civil Parish: Silverstone County/Island: Northamptonshire Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage:

1881 England Census about William G. Harris Name: William G. Harris Age: 13 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1868 Relation: Son Father's Name: Robert Mother's Name: Mary Jane Gender: Male Where born: Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England Civil Parish: Edmonton County/Island: Middlesex Country: England Street address: 20 Shakespear Rd Education:
Employment status: View Image Occupation: Scholar Registration district: Edmonton Sub registration district: Edmonton ED, institution, or vessel: 3 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Benjamim Harris 5 Clara Harris 9 Mary Jane Harris 27 Robert Harris 43 William G. Harris 13 Williams birth place changes after Emmas death, presumably his step mother didn't know, this just confuses things a little more. Emma dies in June 1877 in Ashby De La Zouch, Robert remarries same month, year and district to M J Padmore. Benjamin dies in 1882. Clara is with her Uncle George in 1891 in Hugglescote, Leicestershire. I beleive Robert dies before 1891 and I'm not sure what becomes of Mary Jane.
William George marries in 1893 at Ashby De La Zouch to Susan Horsman, they have 4 children;
(MISTRANSCRIBED) 1901 England Census about Susan Harries Name: Susan Harries Age: 28 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1873 Relation: Head Gender: Female Where born: Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England Civil Parish: Thringstone Ecclesiastical parish: Whitwick St Andrew Town: Thringstone County/Island: Leicestershire Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage:
Education:
Employment status: View Image Registration district: Ashby De-la-Zouch Sub registration district: Whitwick ED, institution, or vessel: 16 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 95 Household Members: Name Age Clara Harries 7 Emma Harries 1 John Harries 4 Susan Harries 28 William Harries 6 William Wardle 11(Susan's 1/2 brother)
William is not noted as deceased on the childrens marriage certs in the 1920's.He is listed as being a coalminer on their certs and also on his own marriage cert.
Many thanks for taking the time to trawl through all my ramblings on, any help/info received would be fantastic.
Thanks again in advance, Dee x
