Find Ancestors

Hi, I am trying to find out more on my Great Great Grandfather Barker Johnson. I have his Birth Certificate which has no father on there and isn't on his marriage cert either. Born 24/06/1851 in Kirby Moorside, Helmsley, Wombleton. Mothers name is Jane Johnson - guessing its her maiden name :(
Informant has the mark of Elizabeth Slater Occupier of Court Garths. There is a Cote Garth on a Wombleton map but no idea what it was or is.
Barker married Ann Barker atStonegrave, Helmsley 25/11/1872.

This is the reason why I gave up researching altogether 3 years ago and I deeply regret it but I just felt I wasn't getting anywhere.

Any help will be really appreciated!!

Barker is listed as Nephew to Thomas and Jane is a Servant to Thomas..... I wonder whether there is a connection between Jane & Thomas (both are listed as unmarried) as 'Barker' is an unusual firstname.

As you most probably are aware if there is no father listed on birth cert and marriage cert it normally means that that person was illegitimate.

Restoration Work on the Dovecote


Standing in Dove Cote Garth this octagonal medieval stone dovecote was part of the
Old Hall of the Lord of the Manor. The original Gisborough Hall was built from stone from the
ruined Priory but was demolished in 1847

If you google for Cote Garth as I did there is a picture of it
