I have lost two members of the Lewis family - Reginald and Virginia their parents were Harry Eaton Lewis and Jessie Perry - my father in law is the grandson of Harry and he can name all members of the family he can recall the above named but I can't find them anywhere - nothing on Freebmd ! They would have been born in Cannock, Staffs in the late 1890's early 1900's. My father in law was born in 1929 if that is of any help!

Can anyone help me please !!

There is this birth. A lot earlier than you thought but if Harry was the grandfather of your father in law this could be correct
Births Dec 1867
Lewis Harry Eaton Newport, Sh. 6a 739

The district Newport, Sh. is an alternative name for Newport S and it spans the boundaries of the counties of Shropshire and Staffordshire;

Thats the family - I think Reginald and Virginia were two of the younger members, father in laws mother was Nellie and she was born in 1904, he is "still with it" and was able to name all the othes and could recall names of family members who died in the war and I found these on CWG which confirmed he was correct, so I'm sure he's not imagining these two people.

Thats him Catherine, Harry's mother was an Eaton which is where I presume he got his odd middle name from

I think I must be going daft in my old age, I have been through freebmd all afternoon for Lewis's and missed it, although I was not searching quite so late. I was going up to around 1900 thinking that Nellie (father in laws mother was the youngest). Many thanks Ericthered and Catherine.

Can't see anything for a Virginia...........could she perhaps have been the wife of one of the sons?

If your FIL knew her as an 'aunt'....that could be one explanation.............

Will question him further tomorrow and see what he can recall, he called her Aunt Ginny but presumably she would have been a Virginia?

Not necessarily...................

Whoops, wrong again, perhaps I'll call it day and stop looking and have some refreshments and perhaps my brain will engage again.

What could she have been called (so I dont have to try and think)?
