I've found James Wood in the 1841 Guildford and Hambledon census. Wife is Harriot and they have a son, George aged 5 (amongst others) living with them. |

found it, and the interesting thing is that Dinah is a licenced victuallar which could be where the pub trade comes from. I have the birth certificate for the Mary on this census but I don't know where James comes from. I think that I'll have a dig around in the census for him and see if there's a George living there as well. |

That's the other name that has confused me. I know that George and Eliza are correct as I have my ggrandfather's birth certificate. I've done some digging in the census' and it keeps on showing Henry and Mary, no mention of a James. In the 1861 census Henry has returned to Dorking and is running a pub. Any ideas greatfully received! |

Thanks again. I shouldn't let people try to talk me out of what I think I've found! It's so kind of you to let me know I'm on the right track. |

I'm trying to find the names of the parents of George Wood born c1835 in Dorking. George went on to marry Eliza Still. I think that his parents may have been Henry and Mary. Is there anyone who could verify that for me. Greatly appreciated. |
